Meet Jenna
Hi, I’m Jenna Slaughter.
I believe the early weeks of parenthood deserve more than survival—they deserve support that feels like exhale. I created Nourishing Touch Doula Care to offer just that: hands-on, heart-centered care that meets you in the messy, magical in-between of healing and becoming.
With over a decade of experience supporting families and a degree in Kinesiology, I bring both clinical understanding and intuitive care to my work. Whether I’m soothing your baby while you sleep, preparing a meal, folding laundry, or just sitting with you in quiet conversation—I’m there to lighten the load and lift you up.

A Calm, Grounded Approach—Always Centered on You
Every family is different—and every postpartum experience is, too. I lead with listening, not assumptions.
My role is to gently assess, support, and guide—so you can make informed choices that feel aligned with your own values and instincts.
I don’t show up with a script. I show up with presence, peace, and a deep respect for your journey.

In the unlikely event of an emergency, I am certified through the American Red Cross to help.
-
My deep understanding of anatomy, physiology, psychology, and infant development gives me a unique edge in supporting both healing bodies and growing babies.
-
I’ve never had an emergency come up, but it sure gives us all some peace of mind knowing we are covered.

Growing up with a large extended family, I always had babies and other kids around. Naturally, babysitting was my first job until I worked as a CNA in college. Caregiving is in my DNA! Then after graduation and after a few years in corporate America… like many people in 2020, I got laid off.
It was in that crossroads that I made a decision that altered my life forever, I went back into childcare. And, I realized that I loved it, and that my life experience made me even better at it than I was before! What was supposed to be temporary turned into long-term. And when my nannying family was pregnant with their second child, they asked me “Have you ever thought of being a postpartum doula?”
I felt like the skies opened up and my calling was dropped into my lap!A few hours later I was already signed up for my workshop hours, started taking the self-paced education pieces, and ordered by first few books to read.
I still have two days a week that I work as a nanny, and have three to four days a week for Postpartum Doula work.

We know that postpartum is an especially vulnerable time. So I follow the principles of trauma informed care emphasizing safety, trustworthiness, choice, collaboration, and empowerment, to create environments that promote healing and adaptability.
When I’m not working…
I’m originally from the Midwest, now loving life in Portland. I enjoy hiking forest trails, cooking big meals for friends, and cuddling my cat, Harper.
Caregiving is in my DNA—and it fills my heart to support others in their most sacred seasons.
